I started DJing twenty years ago and played my first wedding in 2010. By 2012 I was doing it full time, and I've never once wished I was somewhere else on a Saturday night.
The best moment of any wedding happens when the room tips over. The shy cousins are out there, your college friends are screaming the words, and your grandmother is somehow in the middle of it all. Getting a room to that point is a craft. I mix live, I watch the floor, and I change direction the second the energy needs it.
But it's your night, not mine. Before the wedding we go through your must-plays, your do-not-plays, the song for your grand entrance, and the moments that matter to your family. Then I MC the whole day so every toast, dance and announcement lands on time, and you get to just be there.
I owe my private event career to Patrick Daniels, the owner of Double Platinum Celebrations and my business partner. Today I'm also Double Platinum's Operations Manager, helping lead a team of more than 20 DJs. When I'm your DJ, though, your questions and your event come first.
